MUSIC
I love all aspects of music. I love listening to it and critiquing it, writing it, recording it, and playing it live. Many of my best friends I have met through my involvement in local music scenes. I play guitar and piano, and have performed in jazz bands, musical pit bands, punk rock bands, and more. In 2012, my high school band opened for the internationally-touring band Dr. Dog. Once coming to college, one of my bandmates described me as a "musical mercenary" because of the number of bands with which I've played.
Radio Shows
I have served as a DJ on both Z89 and WERW, two of Syracuse University's premier radio stations. On Z89, a Top 40 FM and online streaming station, I provided banter between songs on topics consistent with the station's tagline of "Your Party Station" (such as celebrity happenings, odd news, and Central New York events). On WERW, I co-produced a classic rock show in which my partner and I selected the tracks played and relayed relevant information about the artists and songs.
STUDIO WORK
I've recorded in bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms, and professional recording studios. As a result, I am familiar with the Logic recording software, as well as GarageBand. I also have knowledge of recording interfaces, microphones, and basic recording techniques (such as mic placement and EQing). "Robot Footsie" was recorded in a kitchen and living room, while "Kingslayer" was recorded in a professional recording studio in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Live performance
I've been a member with the bands Basket(s), Lewis & Clark, and Vario System, and have played as many one-off performances with friends and fellow musicians. I've played at classic Syracuse venues like The Westcott Theater, Funk 'n Waffles, and Spark Contemporary Art Space, as well as countless basement, garage, and attic shows. I've opened for nationally touring bands like Dr. Dog and Tumbleweed Wanderers. I have also played as a member of the pit band for four musicals, and have performed in a jazz band.
